How Does the i6x Series Access Control Work with the PortSIP Softphone?

Introduction

Overview

PortSIP Softphone is a SIP softphone that initiates or receives calls over Wi-Fi or 4G/LTE. It supports H.264 and VP8 video codecs. With our products, you can use 1080P video calls, HD audio calls, and remote one-touch door opening in the application. This document describes how to use PortSIP UC with the product. After configuration, you can implement these functions on PortSIP.

Prerequisites

1. One product device (i61 is used as an example here), one PoE switch (or DC power supply), one SIP server, and one mobile phone with PortSIP softphone installed. Connect the device to the switch.
2. Refer to the connection diagram and connect i61, the SIP server, the wireless router, and the computer to the switch.
3. Create two SIP accounts on the SIP server, one for i61 and the other for the mobile soft terminal.
4. Connect the mobile phone to the wireless router, and confirm that the network among i61, the SIP server, and the mobile phone is reachable.

Setting Method

Taking i61 as an example, this section describes the configuration for using PortSIP UC to implement 1080P video calls, HD audio calls, and remote one-touch door opening. Before starting, configure according to the following “Registration” section.

Registration

2.1.1. Register i61 to the SIP server
1. On the phone web Line--SIP page, enable extension registration: checked
Username: extension assigned by the SIP server Display name: can be customized as needed
User authentication: extension assigned by the SIP server
Authentication password: password corresponding to the extension assigned by the SIP server Server address: SIP server address

2. Click the “Submit” button
2.1.2. Register the SIP server on the mobile phone
1. Open PortSIP software and enter the username, password, and server address

2.2. Add Contacts
On the “Contacts” page of the application, click the icon in the upper right corner. On the next page, enter the SIP number of i61 and apply it.

Voice and Video Calls

2.3.1. Configure one-touch outbound calling on i61
1. Configure shortcut key
Type: Memory key
Name: custom name
Value: extension number registered on the mobile softphone
Subtype: select “Speed Dial”
Line: select the extension registered on i61

2. Click the “Submit” button
3. Press the shortcut key on the i61 panel to call out
2.3.2. Make an outbound call through the PortSIP softphone
Enter the “Dial” page of the application, enter the i61 SIP number, and then click the dial icon.

Alternatively, enter the “Contacts” page of the application, click the contact you want to call, and then select the dialing mode.

Remote Door Opening

1. Set the remote password on i61:
Type: select “Remote”
Password: enter the remote password

3. On the softphone, select the i61 extension type as “Access Control”, and enter the remote password in “Door Opening Password”

4. During the call, click the “Open Door” icon, or go to the “Dial Pad” and enter the remote control password to open the door.
